26,4 Millionen aktive Nutzer pro Monat verzeichneten die Sozialen Netzwerke im dritten Quartal in Deutschland. Das sind 3,6 Millionen mehr als im entsprechenden Vorjahresquartal – ein neuer Höchststand. Das teilte der Hightech-Verband BITKOM auf Basis einer exklusiven Erhebung des Marktforschungsinstituts Comscore mit. „Online-Communitys erschließen sich ganz neue Mitgliederkreise. Sie werden heute über alle Alterklassen hinweg genutzt“, sagte Achim Berg, Vizepräsident des BITKOM. „Auch im beruflichen Umfeld werden Communitys immer wichtiger.“Beliebtestes Netzwerk sind die VZ-Seiten mit StudiVZ, SchülerVZ und MeinVZ. Im dritten Quartal nutzten 14,6 Millionen Menschen in Deutschland im Monatsdurchschnitt diese Seiten. Auf Platz 2 rangiert mit 6,2 Millionen aktiven Nutzern das zur RTL-Gruppe gehörende Angebot Wer-kennt-wen.de. Erstmals unter die drei größten sozialen Netzwerke in Deutschland schafft es Facebook. Im dritten Quartal dieses Jahres verzeichnete Facebook 5,6 Millionen Nutzer. Das sind dreimal mehr als noch vor einem Jahr. Stark zulegen konnte auch das ursprünglich nur für geschäftliche Kontakte verwendete Netzwerk Xing. Binnen Jahresfrist verdoppelte sich die Nutzerzahl annähernd auf fast 2 Millionen. Der größte Sprung allerdings gelang Twitter: In nur einem Jahr ging es von 72.000 auf 1,8 Millionen Nutzer nach oben. Das ist eine Steigerung um den Faktor 25. Damit landet Twitter auf Platz 10 der meistgenutzten Sozialen Netzwerke in Deutschland.
Vor dem Hintergrund dieses dynamischen Wachstums baut der Hightech-Verband BITKOM seine Aktivitäten im Bereich Neue Medien weiter aus und hat einen neuen Arbeitskreis Social Media ins Leben gerufen. Der Arbeitskreis befasst sich mit Anwendungen und Einsatzgebieten von Social Media-Plattformen, Communitys und Open Networks. Darüber hinaus beschäftigt sich BITKOM intensiv mit Fragen des Daten- und Jugendschutzes sowie der Sicherheit sozialer Netzwerke und veröffentlicht hierzu z.B. Verbraucherhinweise.
